BRIDGES, TUNNELS AND RAIL ADVISORY

Lane closings planned at the George Washington Bridge,
Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing

 

Lanes will be closed this weekend and/or next week at the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing for ongoing construction and repair projects.

George Washington Bridge:

  • Due to construction work being performed on the Lemoine Avenue bridge, the bus drop-off areas at both the eastbound and westbound bus slips of the George Washing Bridge Plaza will be reduced. This work will begin September 27 and will last approximately four months. For the Eastbound bus slip: The staircase and sidewalk area on the west side of Lemoine Avenue will be closed. The staircase and sidewalk area on the east side of Lemoine Avenue will remain open and passengers should board and disembark buses and jitneys in this area. For the Westbound bus slip: The staircase and sidewalk are on the east side of Lemoine Avenue will be closed up to Bridge Plaza North. The staircase and sidewalk area on the west side of Lemoine Avenue will remain open and passengers should board and disembark buses and jitneys in this area.
  • Three lanes on the bridge’s upper-level eastbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, September 20, through 9 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • The Palisades Interstate Parkway Plaza will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, September 20, through 9 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • Two lanes on the bridge’s upper-level eastbound midspan area and on the Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed from midnight through 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, and all traffic diverted to the Amsterdam Avenue ramp to Interstate 95.
  • One lane on the upper-level westbound Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, September 20, through 5 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • One lane on the bridge’s upper-level westbound side will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
  • Three lanes on the bridge’s upper level westbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, September 21, through 10 a.m. Sunday, September 22.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Monday, September 23, through Thursday, September 26, from 11:59pm each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning.  These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Monday, September 23, through Thursday, September 26, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning.  These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.

Outerbridge Crossing:

  • One lane on the bridge’s eastbound side will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, September 20, through 7 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • One lane on the bridge’s eastbound side and/or one lane on the bridge’s westbound side will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, September 25 and 26, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • One lane on the bridge’s southbound (into Staten Island) side will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
  • One lane on the bridge’s northbound (into Bayonne) side and one lane on the bridge’s southbound side (into Staten Island) will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 24-26) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

PATH:

  • PATH’s World Trade Center station will be closed this weekend, starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, September 21, through 5 a.m., Monday, September 23. Service on the Newark-World Trade Center line will terminate at Exchange Place during this period for tunnel repairs.
