(Hackensack) – A large winter storm will move into the area late Saturday evening and continue through early Sunday afternoon. Total snow accumulation is expected to be 3 – 6 inches. Snow will mix with rain and freezing rain on Sunday morning, which can cause a layer of ice from 1/10 to 1/4 inch thick. Temperatures will rapidly will drop into the single digits and in some areas below zero with the wind chill Sunday night. This will cause a rapid freeze up of all untreated areas. The Monday morning commute will be extremely hazardous and slippery.

As with most storms of this magnitude, the track and the changeover to rain, when and if it happens, will determine the snowfall amounts. If the changeover is delayed, snowfall amounts of up to 8 - 10 inches are possible, whereas if the changeover occurs faster, snowfall amounts of approximately 3 inches are more likely.

Winds will be 10-15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH.
