He has subsequently been chosen by his colleagues to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Board in 2017 and Chairman of the Board in 2018.
Mr. Sullivan brings both his demonstrated leadership in Local 164 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and his experience in public service to the Board of Chosen Freeholders. Tom has previously served on Bergenfield’s Borough Council from 1998 until 2002 and then Montvale’s Borough Council from 2005 until 2007. Tom and his family currently reside in Montvale.
Starting out as an Apprentice Electrician, Mr. Sullivan knows the value of hard work and the opportunities and challenges that come along with it. Through many years of innovation and commitment to his career, Tom was elected Vice President of Local 164 IBEW in 2010 and President in 2013, a position he still holds today.
Tom’s wife Jody is a proud second grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Bergenfield. Tom’s oldest daughter, Kenzie, will be a 2018 graduate of Montclair State University, while his youngest daughters, Jadyn and Kerrin are students at Pascack Hills High School in Montvale.
Mr. Sullivan is a lifelong Bergen County resident who cares strongly about making Bergen County and New Jersey a leader in education, economic opportunity, and quality of life. He is privileged to serve all of the residents in Bergen County and will continue to always work hard for them.
