| Why
is Bergen County offering this prescription discount
plan?
County Executive Dennis McNerney and the Board of Chosen
Freeholders are determined to help the families of Bergen
County cope with the high cost of prescription drugs.
Too many families have no coverage or their coverage
is modest at best. Freeholder David L. Ganz initially
brought this program to the County with the hope that
this plan will ease the financial burden of Bergen County
families who are in need of such coverage.
Who
is eligible to get the Bergen County Prescription
Savings Card? Every resident of Bergen County
may receive the card. There is no age requirement,
income requirement, nor will you be denied even if
you have a pre-existing condition.
Where
will I be able to get an application? You will
be able to download the brochure and application here
on the Bergen County website. We also will distribute
the brochure and application at each Bergen County
Municipal Building and senior center.
How
much does the card cost? $0.
How
much will I save? Depending on your prescription,
you could save from 10% to 50% off the retail cost.
How
will I know if my pharmacy will accept my card?
Over 95% of all pharmacies in New Jersey will accept
the card. The easiest way to be sure is to ask your
pharmacist if they are part of the GS-POPS network.
In addition 55,000 pharmacies nationwide are enrolled
in this program, so if you are traveling, you can
still use your card anywhere in the United States.
Are
there any prescriptions not covered by this plan?
No, all prescriptions are covered even those not typically
covered by most prescription drug plans.
I
already have a prescription plan or my medical insurance
includes a prescription benefit, should I enroll in
this plan as well? With so many different coverages
it is hard to tell. Your pharmacist may be able to
help you answer that question.
Who
should not enroll in the plan? If you have a
current prescription plan with a co-pay of $5, $10,
or $15, you probably will not benefit from this plan.
Ask your pharmacist to be sure. |
