Renovations
Project
Location:
Linden
and
Grand
Avenue
Amount
Awarded:
25,000.00;
10,000.00
In
2000,
the
Borough
of
Ridgefield
wished
to
completely
renovate
its
athletic
field
complex
located
at
Willis
Park.
The
fields
were
in
such
disrepair
that
they
could
no
longer
be
used
for
any
recreational
activities.
As
a
result,
all
recreation
league
and
school
sporting
events,
including
football
games,
track
meets,
etc.,
were
all
played
outside
the
Borough.
The
project
was
very
large
in
scope
and
the
Borough
received
two
grants
from
the
Open
Space
Program
to
assist
them
in
this
giant
undertaking.
In
round
1,
the
Borough
received
a
grant
of
$25,000.00,
which
helped
fund
the
construction
of
a
new,
all-weather
track.
In
round
3,
the
Borough
received
a
grant
of
$10,000.00,
which
was
utilized
to
install
an
irrigation
system
in
the
newly
constructed
football
field.
The
athletic
complex
is
used
by
the
general
public
and
serves
as
home
to
the
Borough’s
school
athletic
teams
and
recreational
leagues.
To
date,
the
Borough
had
bonded
over
$3,000,000
in
matching
funds.
