Mango-Banana Smoothie
Welcome to Recipe of the Week, a feature of the Bergen County Department of Health Service. Each week a new healthy recipe is introduced.  Preparation for most is quick and easy enough for a weekday dinner!  Healthy eating can be fun and delicious!

Mango-Banana Smoothie
Use fresh or frozen fruits to get your day off to a healthy start with this tropical fruit cooler.

Ingredients:  smoothie
  • 2 cups cut-up chilled mango, strawberries, and/or papaya
  • 2 medium bananas, cut-up
  • 1 cup orange juice *
  • ½ cup ice cubes
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Dash ground cinnamon
  • Dash ground nutmeg

In a blender container combine mango, strawberries, and/or papaya; bananas; orange juice; ice cubes; vanilla; cinnamon; and nutmeg. Cover and blend until smooth.

* If desired, substitute 1 cup non-fat milk or one 8-ounce carton low fat vanilla yogurt for the orange juice.

Makes 3 servings

185, fat: 1 gm, carbohydrate: 46 gms., fiber: 4 gms, protein: 2 gms
