CEREMONIES

Among the most traditional and enjoyable of the County Clerk’s duties is the performance of marriage and civil union ceremonies. Couples interested in having the County Clerk officiate at their ceremony must have a valid marriage or civil union license.

For more information or to make an appointment for a marriage or civil union ceremony, call (201) 336-7006.

CIVIL UNION

Civil Union Licenses can be applied for in the town where either partner resides. Since most towns handle civil union licenses through their Health Department, please contact that department to determine what documentation you will need to bring with you when applying for your license.

MARRIAGE

Couples may apply for a marriage license in the town where the either bride or the groom reside. If the Bride is not a resident of New Jersey, the couple should apply for the license in the town where the groom resides. If neither the bride nor the groom are residents of New Jersey, they should apply for the license in the town where the marriage will take place. Since most towns handle marriage licenses through their Health Department, please contact that department to determine what documentation you will need to bring with you when applying for your license.
