Program has been suspended statewide until January
2013. The Police Training Commission board will
readdress the issue at their October 2012 meeting.
We recommend that you continue to make yourself
a better candidate through additional training,
education and experience.
Interested candidates take a written examination
conducted by the New Jersey State Association of
Chiefs of Police, with those successful candidates
participating in a physical fitness assessment,
with those successful candidates participating in
an oral interview conducted by the Law & Public
Safety Institute.
Qualifiers must
download the course application package and
return it to BCLPSI.
Eligibility Requirements: US Citizen
and Resident of New Jersey
Age: 20-35 years old (must be
twenty (20) years of age by date of written examination
and not over thirty-five (35) at completion of program
Medical: Candidate must be of
sound body and of good health sufficient to participate
in the physical training program
Background: Candidates must be
of good moral character, and must have no criminal
convictions
Education, Military & work:
Must have minimum of 60 college credits, or two
(2) years active military service, or two years
of full-time work experience.
In the alternative, following
the applicant’s eighteenth birthday, he/she
must demonstrate successful completion of thirty
(30) college credits and one (1) year of active
military experience or thirty (30) college credits
and one (1) year full-time work experience.
(Must bring copy of DD214 as proof of military
service)
At the time of registration, individuals must show
two (2) proofs of state residency and must pay a
$130.00 non-refundable registration
fee payable to the COUNTY OF BERGEN. Cashiers
check or money orders only. NO PERSONAL CHECKS.
