Delafield Property, Lyndhurst - Passaic River Greenway

Applicant: Passaic River Coalition
Trust Fund Award (1999): $135,000
Total Acquisition Cost: $375,000

In the 1999 funding round of the Bergen County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund, the Passaic River Coalition received an award of $135,000 to help acquire a 1.19-acre vacant parking lot located along the Passaic River in the Township of Lyndhurst. The property, located at 229 Riverside Avenue, will be redeveloped into a greenway corridor park with a pedestrian/bicycle pathway and sculpture garden. This proposed park will offer necessary new open space adjacent to existing large tracts of active and passive parkland and will provide much needed access to the area’s most dynamic resource – the Passaic River.
