The
Easton
Tower
(early
20th
C),
located
in
Paramus,
is
the
only
extant
structure
erected
by
Edward
D.
Easton,
a
prominent
businessman
and
early
organizer
of
the
talking
business
machine
business.
It
is
significant
as
a
remnant
of
the
gentleman
country
estate
phase
of
Bergen
County’s
late
19th
and
early
20th
century
developmental
history.
Acquired
by
the
County
of
Bergen
in
1956
it
is
included
among
the
County’s
eight
owned
historic
sites.
Access
is
available
via
the
Bergen
County
Saddle
River
Bikeway
that
extends
along
the
Tower
site.
Funding
was
used
to
prepare
an
Historic
Structures
report
(HRS),
a
necessary
preliminary
to
site
restoration
which
includes
re-pointing
of
masonry,
cedar
shingles
for
the
roof
and
third
story
siding,
landscaping,
security
fencing
and
lighting.
