Inside Bergen is a cable program hosted by Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney. Each episode focuses on a different County department. Residents can view the program on our County web site or by tuning into the public access channels for their local cable companies. The schedule is as follows:

Bergen County Sheriff's Department

Bergen County is home to one of the finest Sheriff’s Department in the state of New Jersey and in the Country. Sheriff Leo McGuire has instituted many programs to keep our residents safe, especially children and seniors. In this episode of Inside Bergen, Sheriff McGuire discusses some of these programs including: the AMBER Ready Police Emergency Notification System, the Bergen Tip Line, the Gold Star program, Project Lifesaver and the Bergen County Youth Law Enforcement Leadership Academy.

Shared Services

Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney has long been a strong advocate for sharing services. With cuts in state funding, counties and municipalities throughout New Jersey must to initiate change that will cut costs, eliminate the duplication of services and create more efficiency. Bergen County has been at the forefront of the shared services movement. In this episode of Inside Bergen, the County Executive is joined by Freeholder Vice-Chairwoman, Elizabeth Calabrese. They examine the numerous shared services initiatives undertaken by Bergen County.

Health & Human Services

The Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center opened in October 2009. The mission of the Center, located at 120 River Street in Hackensack, is to place individuals who are homeless in housing and provide the support serviced needed to ensure the placement is permanent. Serving as a one-stop location and a single point of entry to receive information, health and human services and financial assistance, the 27,000-square-foot facility provides shelter space for up to 90 individuals and contains a nutrition site and health and social service treatment areas. Current services available to Center guests include lodging, three meals a day, showers, assistance in securing a permanent residence, case management, referrals for medical care, job placement and training.
