IMPORTANT NOTICE
FEE CHANGES EFFECTIVE
FEBRUARY 1, 2010
The Bergen County Board of Chosen
Freeholders, pursuant to P.L. 2009, Chapter
123 (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-287b et al), has by Resolution, established the Bergen County
Homeless Trust Fund. This statute authorizes
the collection, by participating counties, of a surcharge of three dollars ($3.00) for
each document recorded by the County Clerk’s office, to be used exclusively for said
Trust Fund, in addition to any other document recording fee.
The
documents affected by this surcharge are as follows:
Assignment of Mortgage – Cancelled Mortgage – Deeds (all types)
– Mortgages – Non Abstracted Deeds – Re-Recorded Assignments –
Re-Recorded Deeds – Re-Recorded Mortgages – Re-Recorded Releases –
Re-Recorded Satisfactions – Releases – Satisfaction of Mortgage – Split
Deeds – Subordination of Mortgage – Tax Sale Certificate – Vacations
Please be advised that this
Resolution will increase the recording fees per document (not per page) by $3.00. Therefore, any of the documents, mentioned above,
arriving at the County Clerk’s office for recording after January 31, 2010, without
correct fees, must be returned unrecorded.
To avoid recording delays, please inform your office staff, and any
interested parties, of these changes immediately.

Deed:
a document which transfers title to property from one to another. Deeds are recorded and
then returned. $43.00 first page plus $10.00 each additional page. |

a written contract by which one person binds the whole or part of their property in favor
of another. Mortgages are recorded and then returned $33.00 first page plus $10.00
each additional page. |

Pendens: a notice filed on public record for the purpose of warning all persons that

Bergen County Clerk's Office will now accept attorney trust account, certified, or bank
checks for payment of Realty Transfer Fees and the "1% Buyer/ Grantee Fee" Two
separate checks- made payable to the Bergen County Clerk- must be submitted. ALL checks $10,000.00 and over in the
aggregate, MUST BE CERTIFIED or in the form of a BANK CHECK.
