"Mahwah’s Relation to the 19th Century History of the United States" - Mahwah Museum Lecture Series

Thursday, March 8, 2018

Speaker is Yvonne Beatrice, retired American History teacher at Mahwah High School. If you held a mirror to 19th century Mahwah, what image would be reflected therein? Mahwah High School students, participating in the Mahwah Project, found the answer to be…America. During this lecture Yvonne will explore evidence that is found in Mahwah that places it in sync, for better or worse, with the 19th century history of the U.S. Her students were featured in the 2013 NJEA Classroom Close-Up segment entitled “Local Historian”. Lecture is hosted by Mahwah Museum, 201 Franklin Turnpike. It is currently featuring the new exhibits Kilmer: The Man and WWI Sarajevo to Versailles as well as the continuing exhibits Mahwahs Herstory: The Changing Roles of Women in Mahwah’s History, and Medicine in Mahwah. Permanent exhibits are Les Paul in Mahwah and The Donald Cooper Model Railroad, which is open weekends. The Museum is open weekends and Wednesdays from 1-4 pm.
