New Jersey in the Great War—New Jersey Hist. Commission Annual Conference

Friday, November 3, 2017

2017 is the 100th anniversary of the US entry into World War I. NJ’s contribution to the war effort was both large and multi-faceted. NJ factories sent supplies to the allies before and after April 6, 1917; Camp Dix and other training facilities prepared troops for service overseas; thousands embarked for Europe from Hoboken; and over 140,000 state residents ultimately served in the conflict. Many of the changes brought by the Great War, whether economic, social, technological, military, or artistic, continue to affect the Garden State to the present day. The NJ Historical Commission’s 2017 annual conference will consider the many impacts of this vast international conflict on the state. Nov. 4th, don't miss a special opportunity to visit Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, established in 1918 as a WWI camp. Tour the base, participate in oral histories, meet the Harlem Hellfighters, and more! NJHC: http://nj.gov/state/historical/
